Research Areas

PhD in biomedical sciences is a course dedicated to graduates in scientific disciplines with an interest in basic and applied research to human disease. The training is intended to improve knowledge and skills required for understanding functional and pathological mechanisms by means of a translational, multi-scale approach. The different research areas included in this PhD program cover a broad spectrum of scientific disciplines in biomedical sciences, including biochemistry, physiology, pharmacology, neuroscience, and medicine sub-specialties, such as cardiology, pediatrics, hematology, pathology, psychiatry.
PhD students will be trained and educated to follow specific research topics and to become increasingly independent in the technical procedures and scientific reasoning. To this aim, students will participate to seminars, lab meeting, courses, and will be also trained to present their data to scientific meetings. As a fundamental component of the training program, students are enouraged to attend scientific activities in other laboratories and institutes in Italy and abroad.
